Soap Cafe Malta: Natural, Handmade Cosmetics!

Looking for natural, SLS and paraben free, handmade cosmetics, lotions and washes in Malta? Look no further then The Soap Cafe! I recently met with Charlene to discuss the company, the ethos and the products. Located in Sliema 46 St Marys Street, just near the main shopping area, it's utterly beautiful. The smell hits you minutes before you reach the shop and inside it's like walking in to an olden day apothecary! You can choose between bath bombs, face masks, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, soap, face toner sprays, body scrubs and so much more. All items are hand made and free of artificial preservatives and detergents (including parabens and SLS). They are made using natural and, where possible, organic ingredients. The blend of natural and essential oils mean everything smells incredible and you can find certain blends for certain problems- some designed to help acne, anti ageing, treatment of jellyfish stings- whatever you need!My favourite part was the DIY station- this is an incredible idea! Soap Cafe provides the base blend for body wash/shower gel, shampoo and conditioners and then you select the blend of oils to infuse! Whether you want a particular smell, or a particular mixture for baby soft skin, or a scent to help you sleep, the ingredients will be there. With Charlene on hand to assist you can become a potion maker, creating a unique blend that fits your own personal requirements! I made up a delicious pepperminty shower gel and a moisturisor infused with a blend of oils to help treat my acne- and I'll be doing separate more detailed posts on each item as I've tried and tested them!Another section I was super excited to explore was the makeup! Yes, natural, handmade, mineral makeup! All created by Soap Cafe, makeup that is beautiful, fun and actually GOOD for you! They have mineral foundations, blushers, bronzers, concealers, highlighters, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, lip gloss and a LOT more.I came away with a mineral foundation and a new brush to apply it with. As I'm suffering from acne and am going through acne treatment right now I figured a natural mineral foundation would be perfect- I can have a little coverage whilst knowing it's not doing my skin any harm. All the makeup is so versatile and can be used anywhere on the face. You can also use the powder products wet to create a new colour and intensity. For example I dampen my brush with the mineral foundation to add a little extra coverage to the extra bad parts of my face. I also love the idea of using the eyeshadow wet as an intensely pigmented eyeliner shade.Soap Cafe also stock a plethora of raw ingredients, gifts and trinkets from other suppliers. All are sourced ethically, handmade and where applicable are acquired via fair trade. So you're not just doing your body good, you're doing the world good by shopping here! From hand made cups and pots, birthday cards, to coconut oil (great for cooking, hair, face, body, nails!) and baked cookie scented candles!More posts to come soon on some other services Soap Cafe offer (pampar parties, HOLLA!) plus reviews on the individual items I've had the chance to try!Like them on Facebook here for regular updates!
